BSS Blog Hop: Bettie Page

Image
Hi All! If you're here for the Bombshell Stamps Blog Hop, you're in the right place! You should be coming from Suzie's blog. On April 22, 1923, a star was born. A star that we all know. A star that, without her, Bombshell Stamps may not even exist (if I may be so presumptuous). Who is it? None other than Bettie Page. What better month to pay homage to the Pin-Up Queen herself than the month of her birth? So for this hop, I want you to give Ms. Page some love. Make a project, any type of project, using her as inspiration. There are thousands of images to view, lots of quotes she has said, and others have said about her. Here are some photos of Ms. Page. "I think that she was a remarkable lady, an iconic figure in pop culture who influenced sexuality, taste in fashion, someone who had a tremendous impact on our society."  -  Hugh Hefner. Betty was a pioneer in fetish modeling in the 1950's and has since become known as The Queen of Pin Ups. Stuff I Love: The Golden Girls

Image
Welcome Back! Many of you may not know this, but I'm a die-hard Golden Girls fan. I've loved this show for more than 25 years. I think it's because I used to watch it when I'd go to my grandma's house when I was little. The writing was the best part, I think. You can't have a number one show without excellent writing. The Golden Girls even beat out The Cosby Show, which, in the 80's was the show to beat. According to wikipedia and interviews with the actresses, TGG  received positive reviews throughout most of its run and won several awards, including the  Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series  twice. It also won three  Golden Globe Awards for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy . [1]  All four stars each received an  Emmy Award  throughout the series' run and had multiple nominations. [2] [3]  The series also ranked among the top ten highest-rated programs for six out of its seven seasons. [4] Thanks for taking part in this

Interview with a Seller: Alison Heikkila

Welcome Back! It's been a while since I have had the chance to post an Interview, so I decided to ask my friend Alison a few questions because her work has always inspired me very much - and not to mention her blue hair!! Check out her blog and see what I mean. Here are her answers. 1. What’s your name and shop name and what do you do? My name is Alison Heikkila and my Etsy Shop is SkyPrincess 2. Where are you located?  I'm from Long Island, NY 3. What’s the favorite part of your craft? My favorite part??? I don't know if I have a favorite...I enjoy the entire process so much. But, I guss if I had to choose, it would be the completion of a project that I am really happy with. That deep breath that you take when you look at something, and say, "Ahhh, it's done." And then if you are really lucky, you say "And I really like it!" 4. How long have you been crafting? I've been crafting since I came out of the womb! Seriously, from a very young ag

In My Studio

Hi All! My ATG gun arrived FINALLY! It's big, its pink, and it's loaded - watch out! I feel like I should be wearing a gun holster on my hip with I wield that thing! I made a trip up north to one of my favorite stores, the Joann's Super Store! I could spend HOURS in there, and a literally did. 2 hours, to be exact. I bought acrylic paints and crack paint to make my Crackle Tin Tutorial . So, this week I've been playing with acrylic and crackle paints. I've also been scrapbooking, as you can tell from the photos. I also tried a new technique on photo paper with alcohol inks and canned air. I cut this ink splatter down, stamped and embossed it and mounted it on a card. I've also been working on a small summer-themed mini album that I am not quite finished with yet, but here are a few photos of what I have so far. Thanks for tuning in today! I invited you to leave a comment on this blog and let me know w

New in my Shop

Image
This week has been quite lax on listing new items in the shop. I ran out of glue and had to wait until my super Advanced Tape Glider came in the mail to glue anything down, so I'm a little backlogged. I did, however, have enough glue to make a simple and sweet "thanks" card last week. I thought it was appropriate for spring time in Seattle. If you've ever been to Seattle March or April, you know exactly what I'm talking about! Here is a brand new card I created over this last weekend. Its made with photo paper, ink, rubber stamping and embossing. That's about it for this entry. Cheers, Xo, Rachael
